Re: What automation system do you prefer?
I've only used a few since I've been fortunate enough to stay at my stations a long time. Enco has a great interface and tons of features, but they treat their customers like beta testers and you have to pay for support to get fixes for bugs they introduce into the system with each upgrade. We've te...

Re: HD Radio = HUGE DISASTER!!!
Why is it that people who probably have never worked with HD Radio are so ready to declare it a huge disaster? I manage a radio station with an HD component and I feel it has been a huge success. Why? Well, we are a college based station who, several years ago lost the student aspect of the station ...

Re: Paid PSA recommendations
Thank you for passing judgement on me and my radio station without knowing anything about either. Perhaps I should also make a rash judgement regarding you without any information, however, I don't believe that is the purpose of this forum. But, for those who are professionals who visit this forum a...

Paid PSA recommendations
Hi All,
We have been using Educational Media Group for several years to provide paid PSA's, but we want to see what else is out there. Any recommendations for or experiences with other groups?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Is it worthwhile to just buy a station?
What a great question. If radio wasn't a worthwhile investment, you wouldn't see savvy businessmen and woman still buying into it. However, what they understand at the end of the day is, like any other business, it requires good planning and execution by the right team in order to succeed. I've work...

Re: Future of Radio
Seany, Great question! We already know that streaming is moving into cars. This means another competitor for ears. The question is, just like with satellite radio or ipods, will people pay for it? I assert people will eventually pay for it. The growing number of people on smart phones shows the grow...

Re: CPB/NPR funding debate
I appreciate the points robnokshus and angel0 brought up. In my initial argument it was that Public Radio would become a political football by the threat of defunding or stipulating what programming may be purchased with government funds, both both of them asserted that the providing of government f...

Re: Radio Wives
They ALL at some point want to settle down, and if you have kids it gets even tougher. i lost 2 wives over radio and the "Moving" - but i've been married now for over 20 years, we've made 4 moves and she's had enough, its down to my "Career" or Marriage- it eventually comes to that and unless you'r...

Re: CPB/NPR funding debate
Danno, good points. It certainly is an argument against point 1 I first mentioned, but not against point 2. You are correct, between the many options on cable and satellite radio, you can find many of the benefits also available via public broadcasting. As I mentioned in my first reply, though, over...

Re: Radio Wives
We've averaged a move about once every 2 years in the 10+ years we've been married. I'd say my wife is pretty patient, but I'm trying to move up the management chain to a more stable gig. She would like to settle down.
