Reno is a competitive little market and after a disappointing book, Americom is killing off the stupid "Little City" Triple-A to put its sports station, now at 1270AM, on LC's 97.3 frequency. This will make them more competitive with Lotus' ESPN Radio which is already on FM, especially since Americom has the SF Giants and baseball season starts soon. I don't know what they'll put on 1270AM. Maybe another sports station? 97.3 has a great signal but CBS Sports is certainly not as strong as Lotus's ESPN brand. Americom's new general manager Laurie Herron is a spots fanatic and that probably explains what's happening.
I hear that William Mussa and Adam Delevitt are both coming to Reno to work for Americom on the new station. Also, Yahoo Sports will replace CBS on 1270AM when CBS moves to 97.3. I don't think the change is likely to happen until after Delevitt is on board, which won't be for another month. In addition to having the SF Giants, 97.3 will also broadcast the Kings, which is providing a lot of promotion (VIP seats, player meets with sponsors, etc.). Personally I think this is a smart move which will give Reno a sports station with a huge signal.
