NOT ENOUGH FEMALE ARTISTS ON CHRISTIAN RADIO

NOT ENOUGH FEMALE ARTISTS ON CHRISTIAN RADIO
I agree that Christian radio is doing a disservice by not playing enough female Christian artists.
I literally search numerous Indie artist sites to find enough female artists to balance male vs. female on our playlist.
In the top 10 Billboard chart, 4 of the top songs are by females including the #1 song by former Christian Artist, Katy Perry (formerly known as Katy Hudson). Is it possible that she was so shakened by her experience with Christian labels that it had an impact in her going to secular music?
Here are some incredible females that most Christian labels & Christian Radio Stations have ignored:
Beckah Shae, Joanna Martino Beasley, Tania G, Merise, Charmaine, Joy Lippard
It's not only the labels but radio stations are at fault:
Tal and Acacia are one of the most incredible female groups that have ever gotten signed by a Christian Label yet few stations play them.
The problem may be that Christian Radio is dominated by Male Program Directors. We as males cannot feel for a song by a woman like a woman can. Yet, we're making the decisions about what makes it and what doesn't
JJ Heller's song YOUR HANDS was picked up by KSBJ and the response was immediate and it was huge.
We play a song by Joanna Martino Beasley titled Wishing Well that is a huge hit with our radio station network. The song has great meaning to a female audience- the primary audience that listens to Christian Music. ...
With regards to females artists I try to be more flexible and believe other male program directors should do the same. There's a lot of great music available that we are ignoring:
Just a few songs to consider:
Top Priority - Tal and Acacia
Just Because - Merise
LIfe - Beckah Shae
Here in this Moment - Beckah Shae
Savior - Lights
He Wants it All - Forever Jones (this is as good as it gets)
Let's grow Old Together- Lanae Hale
Hole in My Pocket - Joy Lippard

Re: NOT ENOUGH FEMALE ARTISTS ON CHRISTIAN RADIO
oops.. I made a few mistakes.
FOREVER JONES. The song is titled "He Wants it All" --- this song is as good as Call on Jesus and has great meaning for all.
Really, the Lord wants it all and we need to give our ALL!

Re: NOT ENOUGH FEMALE ARTISTS ON CHRISTIAN RADIO
What about ones on major labels with promotions teams behind them?

Someone else just brought up this topic recently via the Rhapsody blog.
